A quick review of work experience

I completed my graduation in dairy technology from Gujarat Agriculture University in 1984 with distinction and went on to do my post graduate management program at Indian Institute of Management (Ahmedabad) in 1986.

Post MBA have been working at various companies of repute, across functions and industries. Prominent amongst my experience has been Nestle India when I started my career in the manufacturing area, where I was exposed to the science of hygienic manufacturing practices as well as management systems required in manufacturing operations.

This was followed by Cadbury India where in 8 odd years had various assignments of projects, manufacturing and sales. Here I honed my skills in leadership and built an in-depth appreciation of sales.

Subsequently worked at Frito lay India (part of the Pepsi group) for a period of 4 years where I was the national head of sales, as the sales director and learnt the skills of execution and directing a high growth Organization.

I had an opportunity to move to a very divergent industry of consumer electronics, at Philips India where over 6 years and I had the opportunity to appreciate scale, working in a fast paced industry and the intricacies of after sales service as well. Finally, a great assignment as head of human relations, in Philips gave me the unique opportunity to understand the human dynamics as well as appreciate the strategic context. During this HR stint also conducted two post-merger integration workshops.

As head of Mother Dairy the seven years enabling me to learn and participate in the industry dynamics of three diverse businesses of fresh fruits and vegetables (retailing, processing , exports), the edible oil and milk and dairy sector.
After having worked the previous 24 years in the private sector and mostly in MNC’s, this also gave me an opportunity to work in an environment of policy driven organizations as also “public spaces” institutions.
